Crystal phases

Identification and quantification of crystalline phases in bulk materials

The lab of the National Institute for Silicosis carries out the mineralogical characterization of mineral samples by XRD using Rietveld analysis, a methodology that allows not only to identify but also to quantify the crystalline phases present in the material.

This is a common test for labelling mineral products according to health risks. In the field of occupational hygiene the useful information provided by this analysis, can be used for estimating, at first sight, the risk of the material.
