Training

 

The National Institute for Silicosis has amongst its tasks the dissemination of knowledge in relation to its mission. As a reference center for the prevention of occupational and environmental respiratory diseases, the institution has unique experience and knowledge in the field, which dissemination will undoubtedly contribute to the improvement of the health of workers and citizens.

 

In order to carry out training courses, the Institute has recently inaugurated facilities with adequate areas for these activities. In addition to this, the proximity to the laboratories, as well as to the technical services and occupational pneumology department, allows the participant to acquire the overall technical  and medical vision that only an institution such as the INS can provide.

 

The National Institute for Silicosis is included in the teaching unit of the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias, focus on training physician in Occupational Medicine. In 2006, it was accredited by the Ministry of Health, including the Occupational Pneumology and  Technical Department, areas where the students will study for several months.

 

Regularly, the National Institute for Silicosis provides a training course for those occupational physicians who work in the field of mining within the framework of the Spanish General Regulation of Basic Mining Safety Standards, also open to the participation of other occupational physicians linked to industries which maintain a constant relationship with respirable crystalline silica.

 

In order to carry out this training courses, the National Institute for Silicosis organise the following activities.

  • Tailor-made courses.
  • Technical seminars.
