Workplace and environmental samples
In the risk assessment of occupational and environmental hazards, sampling has a key role in the evaluation of the exposition to certain substances. Different filters can be used for trapping the hazardous agents to evaluate. The National Institute for Silicosis lab analyzes the samples identifying and quantifying the different substances.
The laboratory of the National Institute for Silicosis can analyze these substances:
- Silica and dust: Respirable fraction of the dust and respirable crystalline silica.
- Elemental and organic carbon: The lab can determine both substances related to diesel exhaust fumes.
- Metals: Analysis of metals in workplace and environmental samples.
- Organic chemicals: Analysis of PAHs, VOCs and formaldehyde.
